Who controls Congress? The parties and the wealthy. Members of Congress need money, so people who give them money hold them accountable. To get stuff done they must cooperate with their party, so the party holds them accountable. The parties and the wealthy have power- our power.

Why do they need money? To reach us, the voters. Why do they need the parties even for issues most Americans agree on? Because we can't combine our voices on issues in a way that tells them and us what we want.

Most Americans have wanted anti-corruption laws passed for years- real limits on lobbying and campaign contributions and to stop the "revolving door" where politicians retire to the industries they regulated. But members of Congress are silent on this issue. Most Americans want to end the gun-show loophole and prevent the mentally ill from buying guns. Most Americans want decent health care, and not the current system where the sick pay more and pharmaceutical companies gouge us to pay huge bonuses and huge marketing costs. Most Americans want to make real jobs rebuilding our infrastructure. And much more. Yes, we disagree on some issues, but even where there's agreement, Congress doesn't act.

I've designed a way for our representatives to communicate with us that's inexpensive, so they don't need much money. We vote on issues to tell ourselves and our reps what we want. We see the results in our districts, states and for the whole country to see it. And we ask for short monthly reports from our representative and senators about their progress. Then we grade them. And we see their average grades.

Challengers report as well. Good people will be able to compete easily and inexpensively. They'll be able to represent us, their constituents, instead of the extremists of their parties. They'll be directly accountable to us and no longer be accountable to the wealthy or the parties.

Remember the movie Antz? They had no power till they all knew what they wanted. They suffered more and more until they put their voices together. We can do the same.

Let's make People Count. This will be a website and phone app. It'll take 10-15 minutes a week of your time, but only on the issues you care about. With it, we can take back our power and make People Count. But I can't do it alone.

Join us and we'll build it together. Like every other project, this one will take some funding so a team can work on it full-time. For the cost of a single winning congressional campaign, about $1.5 million, we can change politics forever. Now it's a struggle for power. We can change it to simply be how we design our country and our future together.
